Despite Serious Eradication Efforts, Zeus Malware Still a Major Problem

by Dave on September 27, 2011

ZeusZeus malware has been the malware of choice for many cyber criminals. It’s been responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars of losses (http://ow.ly/6DXXH) from small businesses, governments, and individuals. Yet despite the effort to shut down Zeus, Microsoft says (http://ow.ly/6DYaS) it’s still quite active. How active? Microsoft Security Essentials is cleaning Zeus off Windows computers at the rate of 60,000 to 100,000 per month!

Here’s a good article that touches on a bit of Zeus history: http://ow.ly/6DYkV

The bottom line is – don’t let your guard down. Use your security tools to clean your computer on a regular basis. When it’s as clean as you can get it, back it up.
